![]() Dear Parents, We had a wonderful first two days of school. I'd like to report that all is well. The students and I are getting to know each other and we are familiarizing ourselves with school rules and classroom routines. Most importantly, we are happy and ready to begin the year. We went over class guidelines and 5th grade expectations, including what it means to be responsible, self-disciplined, independent, and accountable. Rio is a Positive Behavior Interventions and Support school. Students are expected to behave properly on the playground, in the cafeteria, bathroom, walk ways, and classroom. Please review the Rio Student Handbook with your child. It is the student’s responsibility to behave in a positive manner. It is not fair to the class if we must spend valuable instructional time correcting behavioral issues. If there is a cause for concern, I will let you know with a note home, Remind text, or an e-mail. Our class website, http://Journey5th.us has a lot of information and resources for parents as well as the supply list, wish list, calendar, and contact information. STUDENTS-PARENTS-TEACHER. It takes ALL OF US working together to make this year successful. Thank you for your support! i-READY TESTING WEEK i-Ready Fall Testing for 5th Graders begins on Tuesday, August 6 and continues through the week. The students will be tested in Math and Reading. i-Ready is a computerized adaptive test which helps teachers, parents, and administrators improve learning for all students and make informed decisions to promote the students’ academic growth. Please encourage your child to try his/her best for these assessments.
