WINTER MAP TESTING BEGINS

      Measure of Academic Progress   (MAP) Winter testing for 5th Graders begins this week. The students will be tested in Reading Language Arts, Math, and Science.
     MAP testing is important because it is an indicator of  students' progress and what level they are at comparing to 5th grade skills. Therefore, it is important for students not to be absent during MAP testing. Please schedule appointments after the school day if possible.
     Please encourage your child to do the best they can on these tests and make sure the students get plenty of sleep every night along with a good breakfast each morning. Thank you for your support.

CHARACTER AWARDS
     November Character Awards Assembly will be on November 29 at 9:15 am to recognize Good Citizens as well as Six Pillars Character of Respect. Announcements will be sent home with those receiving the honor on Monday.

CLASSROOM DEBATE EVENT 
     We are starting our Debate Project this week. Each team will be given a topic to research and find evidence to support their point of view. Teams will then go against each other and present their case. The rest of the class will vote for the team with the best argument. It’s going to fun arguing with each other.

MONTHLY CLASSROOM NEWSLETTER
     Do you know that our class has a newsletter every month? The “Class Times” is the class newsletter for parents and students. At the end of each month, we have a newsletter writing period when students will brainstorm, discuss, and write events that happened during the month in our classroom and Rio Calaveras. Please read our newsletter for information regarding our class activities and what’s coming up for the next month. You can also view past newsletters on our class website. Please support you child in this fun and rewarding activity by asking for and read the newsletter every month.
