We are beginning our end-of-Trimester testing this week. I am breaking up the tests into shorter sessions so the children don’t have to sit through one long testing period. These tests are very important and have a significant affect on grades.
Please encourage your child to try their best and do well. Please try not to have the children absent this week and do not schedule appointments during this week that could take them out of the school day. Thank you for your support.
KHAN ACADEMY & LEXIA
Our class has been using Khan Academy and Lexia for MAP practice and reading/math improvement. Students are assigned practices to do at school and at home. These programs offer practice, exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower students to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. Please have your child work on these programs for at least 20-40 minutes everyday. The logins are on our class page under “Class Links” The more they practice, the better they will be in Math and Reading.
On Halloween Wednesday, October 31, the students in Room C7 will have a little Halloween gathering to celebrate the coming of witches, goblins, and various ghoulish monsters on this special day. Students are encouraged bring treats to share with the class, but it’s not required.
Please remember that students are not allowed to wear costumes, masks, or face paint on Wednesday.
Our Parents-Students-Teacher Conferences continue this week. I want to thank all parents and students who have taken the time to come and talk about current progress, future goals, as well as share any concerns you have. For those parents who cannot come, please know that you can always reach me by email, our class website contact form, phone call, or send a note to school. Thank you very much for your continuing support.
UNIT 1 TEST REVIEW
There are only 2 more weeks left of Trimester 1. We will be reviewing and getting ready for assessments English Language Arts throughout this week. I will break up the tests into shorter sessions sessions so the children don’t have to sit through one long testing period. Please encourage your child to try their best and do well. Please try not to have the children absent this week and do not schedule appointments during this week that could take them out of the school day.
Thank you for your support.
THE IMPORTANCE OF ATTENDANCE
There are many good and important things to learn each week. Please make every effort to ensure that your child is not absent, tardy, or leaving early on any school day, especially on review and test days. Assignments and homework can be made up but your child will miss the instructions and other building activities that go along with those assignments that help achieve understanding and mastery.
Some kinds of absences are unavoidable, but taking students out of school unnecessarily is disruptive for learning. If possible, please schedule medical and other appointments after school.
Thank you for your support.
Our Parent-Student-Teacher (PST) Conferences start this week. I’m excited to be meeting with 29 parents/guardians this week and the rest of the parents next week! It’s so wonderful to have parents who care about the students’ well-being and make learning a priority. I’ve sent home a note to confirm your conference date and time. I will also remind you by email or a note the day before your appointment time.
As the name “PST” suggests, please allow your child to accompany you and be in the meeting with us. After all, your child is the most important person and the sole reason for our meeting.
Thank you for your support and I will see you at your appointment time.
Every week, students receive a homework packet to be done at home. The packet consists of 4 days of Spiral Review in Language and Reading/Math. Students are to complete each day’s homework and then have it at school the next day to check answers. They also have to complete 30-45 minutes of reading to achieve their AR goals.
Please make sure your child has a time to complete their homework. Thank you for your support.
ONLINE GRADE BOOK
Our Class grade book is available on our class website. The students are required to check their grades in class at least once a week on Mondays. Having the grade book online offers parents a way to keep track of your child’s progress but more importantly, it will help students to be responsible for their own education.
To inform parents of what's going on in the classroom, curriculum, news, progress, and activities. Please ask for the Learning Schedule that goes home every Monday.
