Our class Carnival will be on May 28. We would like to invite ALL PARENTS to come and join us anytime from 10:00-12:00 for some fun and games to celebrate the end of a successful school year.
As with the Winter Carnival, we will transform our class into a fun zone with 8 game booths along with a Carnival Store to “sell” goodies to the carnival goers. As the class is preparing for the carnival, we need your help to stock Our Carnival Store:
-And other goodies…
If you are able to help by contributing any goody item(s), please send them with your child this Friday or Tuesday next week.
Thank you for your support in helping to make our year-end Carnival successful.
"LET'S ROLL" FIELD TRIP
To celebrate a successful 5th grade year. All 5th grade students will be going on a walking field trip to West Lane Bowl to enjoy and few bowling games together. We will leave school around 9:15 and be back at 12:00pm. We will also have a pizza lunch after bowling. Students must wear uniform or unity shirts with uniform pants and tennis shoes. A more detailed information sheet is sent home today.
END OF YEAR REMINDER
We are rapidly approaching the end of our Fifth grade year. There are learning activities that we need to complete this week. School is still in session, so please remind your child to be well-behaved and responsible at all times especially these last 7 days. The school will not tolerate any disruptive behavior or destruction to property.
Thank you for your help.
THANK YOU students & parents for the cards, gift cards, supplies, sweet treats, plants, and other gifts that I have received during the "Teacher Appreciation Week" at Rio Calaveras. I am deeply moved by all the kind thoughts and generosity. They are very much appreciated.
CLASS SUCCESS FIELD TRIP
Throughout this year, Room C7 students have been working hard to achieve. They believed in themselves and never gave up. They have survived 5th Grade and did so well. Even the mean teacher did not scare them at all!
We have done a lot together this year. To celebrate our 5th grade success, we are going to lunch together on Tuesday, 5/14. Bring enough money for lunch and maybe Starbucks afterwards.
CLASS TALENT SHOW
Our Class will hold our annual Class Talent Show on 5/23. All students in Room C7 are encouraged to sign up and have fun contributing to the show.
The only requirement is to have fun with classmates, not worrying about good or bad. Practice well and enjoy.
BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT
The Students are hard at work constructing bridges using sandwich picks. This is a Math application project where each group must cooperate to build the best bridge possible that can hold the most weight under a limited budget. They have to follow building codes, fill out order forms, write checks, and run their building companies just like a real business. It’s a project that reinforces a lot of math skills, highlights social skills, and emphasizes concentration on details… and most importantly, it’s a lot of fun. Please ask your child daily about this project.
Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) Spring testing for 5th Graders begins this week. The students will be tested in Reading Language Arts, Math, and Science.
MAP testing is important because it is an indicator of your child’s progress and what level he/she is at comparing to 5th grade skills. Therefore, it is important for your child not to be absent during MAP testing. Please schedule appointments after the school day if possible.
Please encourage your child to do the best they can on these tests and make sure the students get plenty of sleep every night along with a good breakfast each morning. Thank you for your support.
CLASS YEARBOOK AND BABY PICTURES
During May, the students are working on their last writing project which is to put together the CLASS YEARBOOK!
For a section in the Yearbook called “Guess Who?”, we would like to ask parents’ permission for your child to bring a baby picture of themselves to class. I will take a picture of it and return the precious picture right away. If there are digital pictures, please e-mail to me or let your child upload to their Google Drive.
Thank you for your support.
To inform parents of what's going on in the classroom, curriculum, news, progress, and activities. Please ask for the Learning Schedule that goes home every Monday.
