Since the beginning of school 3 weeks ago, our class have been busy with the usual school-starting activities such as getting to know each other, learning classroom guidelines, school rules, schedule, and finishing MAP tests.
Unfortunately, there are still a number of students that needed to be reminded often to behave appropriately. It is not fair to the class if we must spend valuable instructional time correcting behavioral issues. As we begin our 5th grade curriculum, one of our goals this year is learning to be a more matured student. As 5th graders, they should know what their responsibilities are and I ask you to support me in this effort by talking to your child the importance of following instructions and behaving properly at school. Please make sure to make time for your child to do homework and don’t let your child make excuses for not reading every day.
Let me know if there are problems or if you have questions. You can e-mail or use the contact form on our class website. Only by working together, we can insure the success of the children.
Strings and Band students will start their music training with Ms. Anderson beginning next week on September 4. Below is the weekly schedule:
BAND: Monday 11:15-11:55, Thursday 1:30-2:10
STRINGS: Tuesday 1:30-2:10, Thursday 11:15-11:55
Please make sure to bring your instrument to class on your music day.
Although I support your child’s musical interests and will try my best not to plan essential subjects during music times, but your child would have to miss some reading, art, P.E. and technology time when they are in music class.
Please encourage your child to be determined to succeed in music and not let them miss a practice session at home. Thank you!
