ART appreciation 2019-2020

Studies have shown that involvement in the arts is associated with gains in math, reading, cognitive ability, critical thinking, and verbal skills. Arts learning can also improve motivation, concentration, confidence, and team work. Finally, drawing, painting, and creating arts can be a relaxing, non-pressure activity that refreshes the mind.
For us in Mr. Pham's 5th grade class, art time is fun time!
  • We explore the relationships between lines, colors, shapes, space, and concepts.
  • We recognize primary, secondary, and tertiary colors.
  • We discover the meanings of perspectives and abstractions.
  • We learn different drawing and painting techniques.
  • We look into the minds of art masters and create our own works of art following their styles.
  • Finally, we try our hands at photography using digital cameras and computer programs.

Art will also be incorporated into the curriculum throughout the year as students creating posters, dioramas, origami, paper craft, website design and video creation to support their Reading, Math, Social Studies, and STEAM learning as well as seasonal and cultural celebrations.

This will be a fun year!!! We love art!!!
